The Forgotten Dancer

A new viewing box installation.

At the centre of an intriguing construction is a large, mysterious wooden box situated. Climbing up the stairs, walking around or standing still and looking over the edges, a slowly moving spectacle takes place in a wonderful world down below. It’s the curious world of a remarkable dancer… The scene invites the viewers to use their imagination to create their own story in combination with the objects, images, sounds and associations that are evoked.

In ‘The Forgotten Dancer’ we wander through a symbolic landscape of desire, willpower and hope, which can be confronting or moving as well. But it is also a stimulating viewing adventure somewhere between reality and oddity that, with a wink to absurdism, also provides the necessary lightness.

The first try-outs of this theatrical installation took place in the late summer of 2023. Some responses of the audience: ‘Fascinating’, ‘Exciting’, ‘Peculiar’, ‘Very delicate and soothing’ and ‘In one word: beautiful!’.
